The Montreal Canadiens and St. Louis Blues have both ridden red-hot offenses up the standings and into Wild Card spots in their respective conferences.

My Canadiens vs. Blues predictions expect the goals to continue flowing in a competitive, high-stakes matchup between a pair of teams desperate for every point they can get.

Let’s take a closer look at my NHL picks for March 25.

Canadiens vs Blues prediction

My Canadiens pick: Over 5.5 (-120 at BET99)

My Canadiens analysis
Montreal Canadiens games have been breeding grounds for offense of late. Seven of their past 10 have featured at least six goals, including five of the last six.

They have caught fire offensively, scoring four goals or more in seven of the last 10. The top line of Juraj Slafkovsky, Nick Suzuki, and Cole Caufield has combined for 15 goals in that span, while depth pieces have also stepped up on a consistent basis.

The scoring the Canadiens have gotten all throughout the lineup has made them difficult to slow down. Not to mention, the fight they’ve shown when falling behind in games. They’re never out of it with the way they’re finishing.

The offense has allowed for the Canadiens to continue collecting points despite a noticeable dip in defensive play. Only the Anaheim Ducks have allowed 5v5 shot attempts at a higher rate this month, while the Canadiens also sit Bottom-5 in expected goals against.

The St. Louis Blues should be able to generate more than their fair share of chances at the other end. They are in great offensive form in their own right, netting at least four goals in six consecutive games.

Zooming out a little further, the Blues have scored three goals or more in nine of the last 10. The only time they failed to do so was in the latter half of a road back-to-back against a Los Angeles Kings team that sits tied for first with the Winnipeg Jets in goals allowed per game on home soil.

With two red-hot offenses squaring off, there should be plenty of fireworks in this one.

Canadiens vs Blues same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 5.5

Cole Caufield Over 0.5 points

Jordan Kyrou Over 2.5 shots on goal

Cole Caufield is having the best offensive season of his career. He’s already set a new high in goals (33) while he’s only four points shy of his previous best with plenty of games remaining on the schedule.

One thing that’s helped him reach new heights is his consistency. He finds the scoresheet on a frequent basis and is quick to get back on track when he doesn’t.

Caufield is currently in a three-game point drought, which is his longest since early November. Coming off a pair of rest days, I like his chances of getting involved offensively in this one.

He has been very productive under these circumstances, producing a point in seven of his last 10 following two days off — and tallying 10 points along the way.

Jordan Kyrou has piled up three shots or more in 73% of home games this season following a day off, averaging 3.3 shots on 6.4 attempts along the way.

In a good rest situation against a Canadiens team bleeding shots, his success should continue in this one.
