Canadiens vs Sabres predictions
The Buffalo Sabres are riding high after their dominant 3-1 victory on Saturday where they outshot the Islanders 43-25 to get back on track after a loss to the Flames.
Buffalo has seen contributions throughout the lineup in its first four games. There have been nine different goalscorers including two defensemen. On top of that, Rasmus Dahlin leads the team with five points — all assists — while averaging 24:25 a night.
The Montreal Canadiens enter this game also having won two of their last three games. They've been playing well since their season-opening loss to the Leafs, and they even had a third-period lead in that contest. However, the Habs have only scored eight goals (seven in regulation) in their other three games combined.
Surprisingly, the Sabres have also played several low-scoring games. They've gone Under 6.5 in four of their first five games, largely due to them not scoring more than three goals in a game yet. At the same time, they've only allowed more than three goals in two games.
It's not that the Sabres are just getting unlucky either. They simply haven't been generating much offense with a xGF/60 of 2.33 at 5-on-5 play, ranking seventh-worst in the league.
The Under 6.5 is the play tonight.

Canadiens vs Sabres same-game parlay
We’re kicking off our parlay with the best bet of Under 6.5.
Not only are these two teams trending toward the Under in the early going, but they’re also seeing low-scoring first periods.
The Canadiens have scored twice and allowed two goals in their four opening frames. The Sabres have been outscored 6-4, but most of those goals came in two of their five contests.
This is the first meeting of the season between these two division rivals so there may be a bit of a feeling-out process. They first met last season on October 27th when the Habs skated to a 3-2 win in Buffalo. Their next two meetings had nine and seven goals, respectively.
Tage Thompson has yet to make his presence felt on the scoresheet this season but it isn’t for a lack of trying. He leads the Sabres in shot attempts (40) and shots on goal (24). The goal is going to come sooner than later for Thompson.

Canadiens vs Sabres moneyline and Over/Under analysis
Buffalo opened at as low as -164 before moving up across the board. Perhaps the Sabres are receiving most of the bets thus far after a strong showing against the Islanders on Saturday.
You can still find Sabres -180 at PointsBet but it's skyrocketed to -198 at DraftKings. On the other hand, the Canadiens are now as high as +164 on DraftKings after opening at +140.
The line has settled in at -185 on SIA, which is the average across the board.
The total doesn't have as much odds variation with an Over/Under of 6.5 across the board. You can get the Over 6.5 (-122) at DraftKings and Under 6.5 (+105) at SIA.
I love the Under 6.5 in this game — especially at plus-odds.
