Golden Knights vs Bruins Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today's NHL Game

With much motivation to help ignite Jack Eichel's fire in his hometown, it's no better time for the Vegas Golden Knights center to show up and show out than against the Boston Bruins. The same Bruins team that hasn't quite shown enough consistency to get past a team like Vegas.

The Vegas Golden Knights are wrapping up a lengthy four-game road trip this afternoon in Boston. They didn’t have a strong start to this East Coast challenge, losing the first two games, but after a win against the New Jersey Devils in their latest contest, they seek to close it out on a positive note.

The Boston Bruins have been incredibly inconsistent. The only player that’s been reliable lately has been David Pastrnak, but if Vegas can slow him down, it might be a long day for the home team as we look at why it may pan out this way in my Golden Knights vs. Bruins predictions.

Let's dive into my NHL picks for Saturday, February 8.

My analysis
The Vegas Golden Knights certainly haven’t been as good as they were at the beginning of the season, but there’s no doubt that they are a much better team than the Boston Bruins. They’ve lost four of their last five games, but that was mostly due to their lack of offense. Defending hasn’t been an issue by any means for the Golden Knights, who are only allowing 2.72 goals against in their last 18 games. Adin Hill, who should be starting today, has a 2.66 goals against average over his last 11 starts and this season he is skating to a +8.8 goals saved above expected.

Boston has been the third-worst defensive team since the new year, allowing 3.47 goals per game with a penalty kill that is at 77.1%. Jeremy Swayman’s last five starts have not been the prettiest as he has given up 3.01 goals against while skating to a .906 save percentage. He has not been the Swayman that we saw last season.

For Vegas on the offensive side, Jack Eichel has been beyond impressive. Eichel has 19 points in his last 17 games (9 goals, 10 assists) and has put together an incredibly strong season. He’s gotten some help along the way from guys like Mark Stone (17 points in last 18 games), along with Tomas Hertl and Shea Theodore (16 points each in last 18 games) and Pavel Dorofeyev who has really stepped up with 15 points in his last 18 games. The Golden Knights power play has been carrying them, clicking at a 32.5% success rate.

Vegas hasn’t been producing as much lately at 5-on-5, but it hasn’t been for a lack of chances. They have the eighth most high-danger chances per 60 (11.25). This will be Jack Eichel’s first game in Boston since December 29th, 2019 as Covid and injuries were the causes of him missing trips to TD Garden.

He will be highly motivated.

Golden Knights vs Bruins same-game parlay (SGP)

Vegas Golden Knights to win in regulation

Under 5.5

Jack Eichel to have 2+ points

The Boston Bruins have been struggling mightily to score goals as of late. If it weren’t for David Pastrnak, this team would be in the basement of the eastern conference standings. Adin Hill has been standing tall in the blue paint for the Golden Knights and I don’t see him allowing much today. If Boston stays out of the box, this game shouldn’t be very high-scoring.

Jack Eichel has been producing at will and being back in his hometown will definitely have him fired up and ready to play. Eichel has five points in his last five games and three multi-point games in his last seven. Vegas should control the play for most of the game and if they’re going to score, chances are Eichel will be involved in the play.
