My analysis
The Los Angeles Kings snapped a three-game losing skid last time out as they defeated the Canadiens 4-1 on Thursday. Kevin Fiala didn’t find the score sheet, but the Kings forward did register a game-high six shots on net. I expect that trend to continue against the Anaheim Ducks tonight.
Anaheim has started off the season with a respectable 2-1-1 record, but the Ducks have already shown some serious issues, especially on the backend. The club is allowing an NHL-worst 35.3 shots and 4.13 expected goals against per game, according to Natural Stat Trick.
Those defensive woes were apparent on Friday as the Ducks eked out a 4-3 overtime win against the Avalanche but allowed 49 shots in the process, tied for the most any team has surrendered in a game this season.
Fiala, who’s notched at least four shots on net in each of his last three outings, is averaging just under that mark this season (3.8). Per Natural Stat Trick, he ranks Top 3 on the Kings in shot attempts (25), scoring chances (11), and high-danger chances (six) this season, so I expect him to be around the Ducks net in this matchup.
