A pair of hot teams do battle at Rogers Place tonight when the Edmonton Oilers host the St. Louis Blues. Edmonton is 4-1-0 in its last five games while St. Louis is 4-0-1 over that same span.

Leon Draisaitl has been scoring goals for fun with a league-leading 19 goals on the season, including 15 at even strength, and I’ll look for him to light the lamp once again tonight.

I’ll dig into my Draisaitl bet and more in my Blues vs. Oilers NHL picks and predictions for Saturday, December 7.

My Oilers analysis
The Edmonton Oilers were sluggish out of the gate this season but have turned this around over this past month, going 8-3-1 in their last 12 games. It’s no coincidence that Leon Draisaitl leads all players with 10 goals over that span, and I’m banking on him to light the lamp again tonight vs the St. Louis Blues.

Draisaitl has found the back of the net in eight of 12 games, including a multi-goal performance against the Blue Jackets in a 6-3 Oilers win on Thursday. The Oilers sharpshooter has also scored in three straight home games and four of his last five outings at Rogers Place.

Draisaitl has primarily been centering the second line, most recently flanked by Kasperi Kapanen and Vasily Podkolzin. With Connor McDavid’s top line getting most of the defensive attention from opposing teams, that’s allowed Draisaitl to flourish at even strength.

His 19 goals on the season are tied with Sam Reinhart for the league lead, but Draisaitl’s 15 even-strength markers are two more than any other skater.

The Blues have also been among the NHL’s worst defensive teams at 5-on-5 this season, giving up 59 goals – tied for seventh-worst.

Oilers vs Blues same-game parlay (SGP)

Leon Draisaitl anytime goal

Oilers moneyline

Over 5.5

The Oilers opened as a huge –249 favorite on home ice, and part of that is due to their offense firing on all cylinders over the last month. Edmonton’s 3.75 goals per game since November 9 rank third in the NHL, while the club’s .708 points percentage ranks fourth over that span.

McDavid’s 25 points lead all players since that date, while Draisaitl (18) is tied for third. The dynamic duo has helped the Oilers cash the Over in five of their last seven games while averaging exactly four goals per contest.
