The Edmonton Oilers conclude their season series against the Anaheim Ducks tonight in Orange County.

My Oilers vs. Ducks predictions expect this meeting to play out the same way most matchups do: with a lot of goals.

Let’s dive deeper into why with my NHL picks for April 7.

Oilers vs Ducks prediction

My Oilers pick: Over 6 (-120 at BET99)

My Oilers analysis
Death, taxes, and fireworks when the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks square off.

Eight of the last 10 head-to-head meetings have featured at least six goals, with seven featuring seven or more.

The Oilers generally do the heavy lifting, winning eight of the past 10. However, the Ducks combined to score 11 goals over two victories spanning the last season and change. They’re doing their part.

Even without Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, there is plenty of reason to expect another high-scoring game in the cards.

For starters, three of the four games the Oilers have played without the two superstars have gone Over the total. They’ve allowed 17 goals along the way and have been forced to try and keep up at the other end.

The pace of play should also be extraordinarily high. Edmonton sits third in five-on-five pace over the past 10 games while the Ducks rank first. Expect plenty of chances at both ends of the rink.

Neither team is getting goaltending right now, either. The Ducks have posted an .867 team SV% over the last 10 games while the Oilers are at .873 over the past eight.

With both squads likely to get plenty of chances in a high-paced matchup, and each goaltending tandem struggling, this game has a good recipe for goals.

Oilers vs Ducks same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 6

Evan Bouchard anytime goalscorer

Zach Hyman Over 2.5 shots

Evan Bouchard is a certified Ducks killer. He's found the score sheet in 12 of the last 14 meetings, including each of the last seven.

While Bouchard has generally done his damage by way of assist, he’s had a pair of perennial MVP candidates in McDavid and Draisaitl to pass to. That won’t be the case tonight, which means he might have to take on a bigger role as a shooter.

It’s certainly a good matchup to do just that. The Ducks have allowed the second most shots to defensemen on the season and fifth most over the last 10 games.

Bouchard is likely to get plenty of shooting opportunities. Given his caliber of shot, it wouldn’t be surprising if one ended up in the back of the net.

Zach Hyman should be one of the guys leading the charge. He's averaged 3.3 shots on 6.8 attempts in games without McDavid and Draisaitl this season.

The former 54-goal scorer leads healthy Oilers in tucks and should be considered the focal point.
