It’s a massive 15-game slate today, with games starting at 1 p.m. ET and carrying on until the nightcap at a reasonable 9 p.m. ET.
The stacks are still stacking, but there are some other props to eye on this holiday slate, and that includes the home heater the Hurricanes are on, the Bruins keeping shots off the board, while my favorite stack is on the underdog in Utah today.
These are my three favorite NHL player props for Friday, November 29.
NHL prop picks and best bets for November 29
- Hurricanes TT o3.5 (+115 at DraftKings)
- Guenther + Cooley o0.5 points each (+240 at bet365)
- Rakell u2.5 SOG (-125 at bet365)
Picks made on 11-29 at 8:00 a.m. ET.
Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets
Prop bet #1: Hurricanes team total Over 3.5
There are a lot of player props to look at today, but I can’t get off this Carolina Hurricanes team total Over 3.5, especially at home. They hit this number in 17 of 22 games this year and are on a home heater, having won nine straight on home ice while hitting this team total Over in each of those nine contests.
This price was -105 vs. the Rangers on Wednesday, but now I’m getting +115 vs. a similar matchup yet against a worse goalie. The Florida Panthers are coming off a win vs. Toronto last game but they entered that contest having dropped six of seven. Sergei Bobrovsky has been below average this year and owns a 3.05 GAA and a .889 save percentage. He has allowed 3+ goals in 10 of his 16 starts.
The Hurricanes are also dealing with goalie issues of their own. Their only healthy goalies are Spencer Martin and Yaniv Perets. Martin has gone 3-2-1 with a 3.33 GAA and a .856 SV%, but he has gotten goal support with the Canes, scoring 4+ in four of his five starts. He will likely start today.
Prop bet #2: Dylan Guenther + Logan Cooley Over 0.5 points each
The Utah Hockey Club is a +140 home favorite so its line stacks are getting even more value today vs. an Edmonton Oilers group who they can score 3+ goals against. The Oilers have a worse save percentage than Montreal this year and have to outscore their way to victories.
That’s a perfect storm for one of my recent favorite stacks with two former Top-10 picks in Dylan Guenther and Logan Cooley.
Both forwards anchor the second line but have joined the top power-play unit, which is key as Utah is one of the busiest PP/PK teams in hockey. Over their last seven games, they’ve seen 12 special-team goals and have had 4+ PP opportunities in five of their last six games. We know what Edmonton can do with the man advantage so this game could see a ton of PP time.
The stack has hit in three straight games while the young skaters are getting a bump in ice time playing over 20 minutes a game of late. Cooley and Guenther have 11 combined points over those three games with five power-play points.
Prop bet #3: Rickard Rakell Under 2.5 shots on goal
Since firing coach Jim Montgomery and handing the coaching duties over to Joe Sacco, the Boston Bruins have suffocated opposing teams and suppressed shots on goal. This is an offense that couldn’t score, so the interim head coach has decided to clamp down and win low-scoring affairs.
It has worked as this club has responded with 22, 20, 14, and 24 shots against under Sacco. The Islanders game got out of hand in the 6-3 win, but there were still just 45 total shots on net. There is time to profit off the change in the defensive system and keep hammering the opposition’s SOG Unders.
Today’s target on the Pittsburgh Penguins is Rickard Rakell at Under 2.5 -125. This is a buy to -140, or you can pair it with Malkin Under 2.5 SOG to bump it up, but -140 or better is worth it tonight.
Rakell is on the first line with Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust but he is the least-productive player on the line (and PP1). He has gone Under this number in seven of his last eight games, and with Boston getting the last change, this struggling Pittsburgh team might not hit 25 SOG today.
Crosby’s Under 2.5 SOG at +125 is also a good look, as he has finished with zero SOG in three of his last four games and ranks outside the Top 5 in shot attempts/60 on the season.
