It’s a busy, 12-game slate on the ice Thursday, February 27, and my top NHL picks have you covered for the action.

I’m looking to cash in on the uptick in shot volume from a pair of forwards in the late window. Read more as Utah Hockey Club winger Dylan Guenther and Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl headline my favorite NHL player props tonight.

NHL prop picks and best bets for February 27

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Pavel Buchnevich Under 0.5 points (-125 at DraftKings)

The Washington Capitals have allowed just 1.64 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five during their active 11-2-3 stretch. Meanwhile, St. Louis Blues forward Pavel Buchenvich has averaged just 1:32 of PP time across his past six games.

Buchnevich is also cruising along an unsustainable heater with a goal and seven assists across his past seven outings. He’s been on the ice for a 15.8 team shooting percentage and 5.26 goals despite the Blues generating just 4.31 expected goals during the drought.

With the Caps checking out as a daunting matchup, I’m anticipating the puck luck drying up for the Russian winger tonight.

Tomas Hertl Over 2.5 shots (-110 at DraftKings)

The Chicago Blackhawks have surrendered the third most shots per game (31.7) and sport a league-low 44.0 Corsi For percentage at five-on-five, so this is a great matchup for Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl to continue building on his uptick in shot volume.

He has paced the Golden Knights with 10.43 shots per 60 minutes while recording three or more in nine of his past 14 games. Additionally, Hertl has become the go-to shooter on the No. 1 power-play unit during the stretch, and the Blackhawks spend the second-most time shorthanded in the league (5:08 per game).

Dylan Guenther Over 2.5 shots (-140 at DraftKings)

Utah Hockey Club winger Dylan Guenther paces the team in shots (9.95) and attempts (22.65) per 60 minutes and has recorded three or more shots in six of seven games since returning from a lower-body injury that cost him 12 contests.

This is a plus-matchup for the good times to keep rolling for Guenther, too. The Minnesota Wild have surrendered a healthy 31.5 shots per road game out of the holiday break, which includes allowing the fifth-most attempts per 60 (65.77) and sporting fifth-worst Corsi For percentage (44.0%) at five-on-five.
