Predators vs Senators Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Saros Helps Nashville Extend Win Streak

Behind some hot goaltending and a buzzing offense, the Nashville Predators have won three straight games to kick off the New Year. Our NHL betting picks break down why they should extend that streak to four tonight.

The Nashville Predators are undefeated since the calendar flipped to 2023 and are bringing their three-game winning streak to Canada tonight. The Preds are trying to claw their way into a playoff spot as they currently sit three points back of the Edmonton Oilers for the second Wild Card position.

The Ottawa Senators have had a decent start to the New Year as well, winning two out of their three games thus far, but their most recent contest was an absolute spanking on home ice against the Seattle Kraken, losing by the score of 8-4.

The Senators haven’t necessarily lived up to their expectations coming into the season. There was some discussion about them being a playoff team, but they're on the outside looking in right now.

These teams met about a month ago in Nashville, with the Sens edging out a 3-2 victory. Will the Preds get revenge? Read our NHL picks and predictions below to find out.

Predators vs Senators best odds

Predators vs Senators picks and predictions

The Nashville Predators have certainly been inconsistent for most of the season, but they have looked pretty good during this three-game win streak.

The game that stands out most was their win against the Carolina Hurricanes where they were outshot by a whopping 67-25, but Juuse Saros was able to shut the door and make 64 saves.

Saros is the backbone of this team without a doubt, entering this game with 14-10-5 record, a .918 save percentage, and a 2.77 goals against average. He's also won his last three starts.

Goaltending hasn't been nearly as reliable for the Ottawa Senators. They've had Cam Talbot and Anton Forsberg split time in the blue paint and neither of them has necessarily run away with the starting job.

Talbot enters this game with a record of 10-10-1 with a .906 SV% and a 2.89 GAA, while Forsberg sits with a record of 7-8-2 to go with his .909 SV% and a 3.04 GAA. Forsberg has started the team's last three games, but Talbot will get the nod tonight.

The Predators definitely have the edge in goaltending tonight and the Preds' offense has been buzzing lately, scoring 14 goals in their last three games while also converting three of their last nine power-play opportunities.

I'm going to ride the hot hand and take the Predators here.

Predators vs Senators moneyline analysis

It's fair to say the Predators and Senators have had relatively similar seasons thus far, as both teams have been below average on both sides of the puck.

The only true advantage that the Senators have over Nashville in my mind is special teams, which could play a role tonight. The Sens currently have the fourth-best power play in the league (28.1%) as well as the sixth-best penalty kill (82.2%). The Preds will need to be disciplined tonight.

Even though Ottawa may have that advantage, I still think Juuse Saros is the X-factor in this game. He's been at the top of his game of late and the Preds have some dynamic goal-scorers up front that can compete with the Sens.

Nashville’s offense is getting hot and so is their goaltending. I'm not betting against them tonight.

Predators vs Senators Over/Under analysis

The Under has most definitely been a trend as of late for Ottawa Senators home games, hitting in six of the last seven contests inside Canadian Tire Centre.

I wouldn’t consider the Senators or Predators high-scoring teams, as the Sens average 3.05 goals per game with the Preds even lower at 2.79 per contest. That doesn’t necessarily give off a barn-burner vibe.

Defensively speaking, both teams are right in the middle of the pack. The Preds allow 3.00 goals against per game and the Sens are at 3.18 per contest.

I don’t see this game being played very wide open and as such, I'm backing the Under.
