The Ottawa Senators went out at the trade deadline and added center Dylan Cozens from the Sabres. As with so many players before him, leaving Buffalo has lit a fire under the centerman.
Cozens had a respectable 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists) in 61 games with the Sabres this season. He already has eight points (three goals, five assists) in 10 games in his new threads.
He was held off the scoresheet in Ottawa's 4-3 win in Detroit on Thursday night, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. Cozens fired five shots on goal and eight total shot attempts in the victory. That was just the second time since joining the Senators that Cozens didn't log a point.
The second-line center also sees time on Ottawa's top power-play unit with the big guns, giving him plenty of opportunity to get on the scoresheet.
Finally, this is a great spot for Cozens and the Senators. The Columbus Blue Jackets gave it their all with multiple comebacks in a 7-6 shootout win over the Canucks last night. They will surely be fatigued with backup Daniil Tarasonv (3.51 GAA, .882 SV%) projected to start.
