Best Oilers vs Panthers SGP for Tuesday
It seems like all the Edmonton Oilers got right in an 8-1 thumping of the Florida Panthers to avoid a sweep, including Leon Draisaitl.
The second-leading scorer in the playoffs, Leo had been shut out completely in the first three games of the Stanley Cup Final before picking up a pair of assists in Game 4. He came oh-so-close to his first goal of the series, when his one-timer got past Anthony Stolarz but was finessed in by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
Draisaitl getting shut out of the playoff goal scoring picture doesn’t happen often. In fact, he’s scored at least a goal in five straight series, and 11 of 13 series in his career. Not only do I like him breaking through with a goal Tuesday night, but to continue getting pucks to the net.
Sixth in the playoffs in shots on goal, he’s been tabbed with a very gettable 2.5 shots on goal. Draisaitl is coming off Game 4 where he had three shots on goal, and has had at least three shots in three of four games in this series.
He has had at least three shots in a game 15 times in these playoffs, and as Edmonton may have rediscovered its offensive groove, he should be peppering Sergei Bobrovsky plenty in Game 5.
We’ll finish with Stuart Skinner and his save line of 26.5. The Edmonton tender is coming off one of his busiest nights of the playoffs, stopping 32 of 33 shots in that blowout win. It was a lot of low-stress action for Skinner, as many of those saves were with Florida playing catch up.
The Panthers have only averaged 25.3 shots per game in this series, and when they’re going, it’s because they have a lead and are generally counter-attacking, as opposed to generating regular scoring opportunities.
Since the start of Round 2, Edmonton has also allowed 25 shots on goal in a game four times, and Game 4 was one of those outliers.
