Latest Vezina Trophy odds update
4/24/2024: Vezina Trophy odds followed a similar pattern to the majority of awards this year, with a clear-cut favorite finishing on top. Connor Hellebuyck's play earned him that distinction and he'll now look to add more hardware as the postseason moves on.
Previous Vezina betting action
4/10/2024: Just like the majority of the NHL awards, the Vezina Trophy is all but handed out according to the odds. Hellebuyck now sits as short as -2,000 and books like DraftKings are no longer offering the market. Bobrovsky is second on the board but is a distant +1,500 from the Winnipeg netminder.
3/27/2024: Sergei Bobrovsky launched himself into the No. 2 spot with his play, but that's as far as he'll go with Connor Hellebuyck's odds shortening at a rapid rate. He was at -250 just a couple weeks ago and is already up to -650 with less than a month to go in the regular season.
3/13/2024: It can't go without mention how good Sergei Bobrovsky has been this season. His play has shortened his odds at DK from +1,600 to +450 over the last two weeks, but Connor Hellebuyck has just been that much better. The Winnipeg goalie is going as short as -450 at FanDuel and is fresh off his fourth shutout of the season.
2/27/2024: As Connor Hellebuyck's odds continue to shorten, Thatcher Demko and Adin Hill slip further and further away from the top. The Winnipeg netminder is Top 3 in wins, GAA, and SV%, with his team neck-and-neck atop the Central. Unless teams can figure him out in the final quarter of the season, I only see his odds growing shorter.
2/13/2024: Connor Hellebuyck continues to inch farther away from the competition, with his odds as short as -145. Thatcher Demko is still in the second spot but continues to fall behind. As for new faces on the board, Jacob Markstrom's play post All-Star break has him at +2,000 and in seventh place.
1/16/2024: Connor Hellebuyck eclipsed Thatcher Demko on the Vezina odds board two weeks ago and hasn't looked back since, with his odds now paying out minus money. His 2.20 GAA and .924 SV% are sparkling, and if the Jets can continue to climb up the standings, so to will his chances of taking home the Vezina.
1/16/2024: After being neck-and-neck with Thatcher Demko, Connor Hellebuyck has finally broken free and is in sole possession of the No. 1 spot (+200). Demko is still no slouch either though as he remains in the No. 2 slot (+340), while Jeremy Swayman rounds out the Top 3.
1/2/2024: Cam Talbot was the top dog at one point but his odds have slipped a little during the final weeks of December. As the calendar flips to 2024, Thatcher Demko and Connor Hellebuyck are co-favorites to win the Vezina (+400). Rounding out the Top 3 is Jeremy Swayman, who looks to bring the trophy back to Boston after Ullmark won the honors last season.
12/13/2023: It shouldn't come as a surprise the No. 1 netminder on the team with the No. 1 defense has such good odds to win the Vezina, but when that goalie is 36-year-old Cam Talbot, it makes you look twice. Talbot's odds have shortened from +2,000 to as low as +550, even taking over the "favorite" status at DraftKings. As for the other books, Thatcher Demko remains atop the board with Shesterkin in the mix everywhere.
11/29/2023: The Vezina race was locked up between three netminders, but Thatcher Demko has emerged as the favorite after th dist settled. Demko now has odds as short as +450, with jake Oettinger and Igor Shesterkin battling for the No. 2 spot. Sorokin (+1,500) continues to plummet as the Islanders slide down the standings, although FanDuel still has him at +750.
11/15/2023: Ilya Sorokin has fallen off the wagon and is no longer the favorite, at most books, although SIA is standing with the Isles netminder as he's still priced at +550. As for other books, Jake Oettinger and Thatcher Demko are neck-and-neck at the top, with Igor Shesterkin and Juuse Saros still lurking. The Vezina race is as tight as it gets.
11/1/2023: Ilya Sorokin entered the season as the favorite and his play to start the year has kept him there, sitting with odds as short as +425. With that said players like Igor Shesterkin and Juuse Saros are breathing down his neck, with both goalie's odds shortening as well. No new names have entered into the Top 10 as the league's top goalies have all looked good for the most part so far.
10/16/2023: The regular season is approaching its first full week, and not much has changed in the Top 4 on the odds board. Ilya Sorokin is the man to beat at most books, with Juuse Saros, Igor Shesterkin, and Connor Hellebuyck not far behind. One major shakeup occurred when it was announced that Andrei Vasilevskiy would miss the season's first two months, seeing his Vezina odds skyrocket. Thatcher Demko also finds himself in the Top 10 on the odds board after picking up back-to-back wins over the Oilers to start the season.
10/02/2023: With the regular season kicking off in just over a week, Ilya Sorokin is at the top of the odds board at most books, with a set of netminders closely behind. It seems to be a hard-fought race throughout the season, with Juuse Saros, Igor Shesterkin, and Connor Hellebuyck all sitting with similar odds listed above.
9/17/2023: As the season inches closer, Ilya Sorokin still remains the favorite at a juicy +400. Odds for other goaltenders have remainder the same as well, with Juuse Saros and Igor Shesterkin tied for second at +600.
Understanding NHL Vezina odds
Most sportsbooks will display odds in the American format as listed above. When the regular season is nearly finished and a consensus has emerged, you might see a player with a minus sign (-) ahead of his odds, like this:
- Igor Shesterkin -400
The (-) means that Shesterkin is the odds-on favorite, and a bettor would need to wager $400 to win $100. Other contenders in the Vezina race might have plus (+) odds to win.
- Jake Oettinger +650
Here, a bettor stood to profit $650 for every $100 wagered.
If American odds aren't your thing, simply use a tool like our odds converter to switch the odds to decimal or fractional format. Most online sportsbooks also give you the option to change the odds format that you see.
