Belgium vs France Predictions & Picks for Monday's Nations League Match

While these teams finished Under the 2.5 total when they last played in September, both had a ton of attempts and were lucky (or unlucky depending on your perspective) that they didn't convert. That won't be the case here.

Belgium are testing life without key players Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, while France are without star attacker Kylian Mbappe.

Nevertheless, my Belgium vs. France predictions still see a high-scoring potential in this highly anticipated Nations League encounter.

The Nations League offers an important platform for testing, and both managers will look for goals as they face off. Read on for my full free betting picks for Monday, October 14.

My analysis

France surprisingly lost 3-1 at home to Italy on their opening night in the Nations League in September but bounced back with solid wins against Belgium at home and Israel on the road to establish themselves as contenders to win Group A2. Belgium lost to France, but held Italy at home 2-2, while also beating Israel 3-1.

Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, two of the key elements in Domenico Tedesco's team, will be missing out vs. France, just as they did against Italy.

But Belgium proved resourceful. The likes of Lois Openda, Leandro Trossard, Jeremy Doku, and Charles De Ketelaere up front, backed by two strong central midfielders like Eliaquim Mangala and Youri Tielemans are by no means average.

France burst with attacking talent. Alongside Kolo Muani, Didier Deschamps used Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise, and Christopher Nkunku vs. Israel, while calling PSG's duo Bradley Barcola and Warren Zaire-Emery from the bench. There's a lot of potential for goals on both sides.

There were Over 2.5 goals scored in three of France's previous four matches, with the only Under coming against Belgium a month ago. That one ended in a 2-0 victory for France, but Deschamps' men had nine shots on target and another six blocked, while Belgium sent four on target from a total of nine.

It could have been goals galore, and it's giving us value on the Over this time around.

Belgium vs France same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 2.5

Belgium to win or draw

Woodwork hit

The Nations League is by no means friendly, but managers use it to get their teams in shape ahead of the actual qualifiers for the final tournaments. The attacking players in both line-ups will aim to prove themselves in the absence of De Bruyne, Lukaku, or Mbappe, so this game should look different to previous clashes between the two teams.

The result's importance is there, but the leash is expected to loosen, as the stakes are different to the Euros. It can lead to a highly spectacular match, with lots of action in both boxes.

Belgium hope the third time's the charm against an opponent that already beat them twice over the past three months. With Mbappe absent, that will help matters.

Lukaku won't be there to hit the post like he did over and over again at the Euros. But since much shooting is expected and considering the great return to round up the parlay, a bet on the ball hitting the woodwork during the match mustn't be ignored.
