SAN DIEGO -- Carlos Asuaje homered and the San Diego Padres treated Yu Darvish rudely in a 7-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night.
The win gave the Padres a sweep of the split doubleheader and handed the Dodgers their seventh loss in eight games.
Yangervis Solarte had a solo walk-off home run in the opener of only the second doubleheader in Petco Park history.
Buddy Baumann (1-1), who pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings, got the win.
The Padres broke out with a four-run third inning as Darvish (2-2), L.A.'s prized acquisition at the trading deadline, struggled again.
The four-time All-Star had his shortest outing of the year, lasting only three innings. He was charged with five runs and eight hits with three walks, one intentional. He had five strikeouts but was clearly off his game during his 88-pitch effort.
Darvish is being counted with Clayton Kershaw as a 1-2 punch in the playoffs. But Darvish, who is 8-11 overall, has spent the previous two weeks working on his delivery. It remains off-kilter.
Erick Aybar, who came off the disabled list Friday, reached base four times with three hits and a walk.
Asuaje's homer was among the big blows as the Padres seized a 5-2 advantage with a four-run third inning.
San Diego sent 10 batters to the plate with Hector Sanchez's RBI single setting the stage for Matt Szczur's two-run double, which he poked just inside the first-base line.
The Dodgers pushed a run across in taking a 2-1 lead in the second. Justin Turner walked, advanced on two wild pitches and was driven in by Adrian Gonazalez.
The Padres tied the score at 1 in the first inning thanks to some heady baserunning by Aybar. Cory Spangenberg's single pushed Aybar to third after his double. When Sanchez grounded to Gonzalez, Aybar broke from home when Gonzalez went to tag first.
Gonzalez's relay was just tardy as Aybar's nifty slide allowed his hand to touch the plate.
Turner put the Dodgers ahead in the first. His double to right-center scored Curtis Granderson, who had reached with a one-out single.
NOTES: Dodgers 3B Justin Turner returned to the lineup in the nightcap. ... Corey Seager (elbow), who missed his sixth straight start, will begin a throwing program on Monday. ... Padres 1B Wil Myers, who is 5-for-17 during the homestand, didn't start. Hector Sanchez started his second game at first. ... SS Erick Aybar, who returned from the DL on Friday, started at shortstop and batted second.
