Right-hander Anthony DeSclafani continued the San Francisco Giants' run of brilliant pitching Sunday afternoon, blanking the Colorado Rockies on six hits over six innings to help the hosts complete a three-game sweep with a 4-0 victory.
Alex Dickerson hit a first-inning solo home run and Brandon Belt added one in the sixth, both off Rockies starter German Marquez (0-1), providing the power that produced the Giants' fourth straight win.
DeSclafani (1-0), who didn't get a decision despite holding the San Diego Padres to just one run on four hits over five innings in a 3-2 road win earlier in the week, was ever better in his second start for the Giants.
Staked to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the 30-year-old allowed only one baserunner to reach third base before encountering his only major jam in the sixth.
Attempting to protect the two-run lead, DeSclafani served up an inning-opening double to Trevor Story in the sixth and an infield single to Charlie Blackmon.
After a flyball put the potential tying runs on second and third with one out, the former member of the Cincinnati Reds struck out Josh Fuentes and Sam Hilliard to retain the 2-0 lead.
Belt's homer, his first of the season, padded the San Francisco lead to 3-0 in the last of the sixth, after which DeSclafani was replaced, having thrown 94 pitches. He walked one and struck out eight.
Jose Alvarez, Tyler Rogers and Wandy Peralta completed the shutout from there, allowing two hits and three walks in three innings, but no runs. Peralta worked a scoreless ninth inning despite issuing a pair of two-out walks.
Marquez was pulled two outs into the sixth, charged with three runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out seven.
Evan Longoria, who had singled in San Francisco's second run in the two-run first, made it a two-RBI day with another run-scoring hit in the seventh, completing the scoring.
Longoria and LaMonte Wade Jr. had two hits apiece and Belt scored twice for the Giants, who outscored the Rockies 11-4 in the series.
Story and Raimel Tapia accounted for half of Colorado's eight-hit total with two apiece. Story's double was the visitors' only extra-base hit.
The Rockies have lost seven of nine since an Opening Day win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
