Taylor Trammell hit two home runs, including the go-ahead blast in the ninth inning, to lift the Seattle Mariners to a 3-2 win over the host Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon.
Ty France also homered for Seattle, which has won 10 of its past 12 games. Mariners right-hander Paul Sewald (5-2) got the victory in relief.
Leury Garcia and Yasmani Grandal had one RBI apiece for the White Sox, who have dropped seven of eight. Chicago right-hander Liam Hendriks (3-2) took the loss.
Mariners left-hander Hector Santiago became the first player to be ejected for violating Major League Baseball's foreign-substance rule since umpires began cracking down on the issue this month. Home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi commandeered Santiago's glove, and the 33-year-old walked bare-handed into the clubhouse after giving up one run in 2 1/3 innings.
The game initially started Saturday, but it was suspended in the third inning because of heavy rain. The White Sox and Mariners picked up where they left off at 0-0, with Santiago replacing Logan Gilbert on the mound for Seattle and Dallas Keuchel replacing Lance Lynn for Chicago.
Seattle grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fifth on Trammell's solo shot to right field.
The White Sox pulled even at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Garcia. The hit scored Grandal from second base.
France followed in the sixth with a solo blast to put Seattle back on top. It was his seventh homer, matching his career high from 2019 with San Diego.
Again, the White Sox answered in the bottom of the frame to make it 2-2. Grandal hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Brian Goodwin.
Trammell broke the tie with his second homer of the day and eighth of the season. It was the rookie's first multi-homer game.
White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu needed help to leave the game after he was hit by a pitch on the knee in the sixth inning. Abreu writhed in pain after being struck by the 96 mph fastball from right-hander JT Chargois.
Abreu is listed as day-to-day with a bruised left knee after X-rays were negative for a fracture. He is hitting .241 with 12 homers and 53 RBIs.
