Jackie Bradley Jr. homered twice, and Eduardo Nunez added one more while starter David Price struck out 10 in six innings as the Boston Red Sox defeated the host Baltimore Orioles 5-0 on Saturday afternoon in the opener of a day-night doubleheader at Camden Yards.
The game was far from the 19-12 slugfest the Red Sox won on Friday in Baltimore, a win that officially eliminated the Orioles from the American League East race. The three homers gave Boston four of its five runs; Bradley and Nunez each finished with two RBIs.
Price (12-6) always has been dominant at Camden Yards and turned in another solid performance in this win. The left-hander scattered five hits in those six shutout innings and didn't surrender a walk.
The victory improved Price to 8-0 in his career at Baltimore. His 10 strikeouts were a season high and the most he's had in a game since July 10, 2016.
Jimmy Yacabonis (0-1) suffered his first major league loss. He blanked Boston through four innings before finding trouble in the fifth.
The hard-throwing right-hander gave up three runs on five hits and struck out two in 4 2/3 innings. He was called up from Triple-A Norfolk to be Baltimore's 26th man for the twin bill.
Neither team scored in the first four innings before the Red Sox took charge. Yacabonis had retired the previous eight Boston batters before Xander Bogaerts singled to start the fifth inning.
One out later, Nunez lined a two-run shot into the left field seats that gave the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. He jumped on a 3-0 pitch from Yacabonis and sent a rope that made it inside the foul pole with some room to spare.
Bradley then made it 3-0 with his solo homer two batters later.
Bogaerts was involved once more when the Red Sox stretched the lead to 4-0 in the sixth. He doubled to left with one out off Sean Gilmartin, who was making his Baltimore debut.
Then, Bogaerts tried to steal third and got that and more, scoring on third baseman Renato Nunez's error when he missed a throw from catcher Austin Wynns.
Bradley added his second homer of the game, another solo blast, in the ninth off Miguel Castro for a 5-0 Boston lead.
The second game begins at 7:05 p.m. ET.
