William Contreras hit a two-run home run and Willy Adames added a two-run double as the visiting Milwaukee Brewers won the opener of a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night with a 7-2 win.
Christian Yelich had three hits for Milwaukee, which improved its road record to 17-12. The Brewers received two hits from Contreras, Adames and Blake Perkins.
Bryse Wilson (3-1) earned the win. He entered the game in relief of opener Jared Koenig with two outs in the first inning and limited the Red Sox to two runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. Wilson struck out seven and walked one.
Dominic Smith hit a solo home run for Boston, which entered the contest on a four-game winning streak. It was his first home run of the season.
Boston's Jarren Duran extended his hitting streak to nine games when he singled in the first inning. Duran also singled in the bottom of the third and doubled in the fifth. David Hamilton also had three hits for the Red Sox.
Red Sox starter Kutter Crawford (2-3) allowed six runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
The loss left the Red Sox with a 10-14 record at home.
Milwaukee took a 3-0 lead in the third. After Brice Turang drove in Jackson Chourio with a sacrifice fly to open the scoring, Contreras homered with Perkins on base to extend the lead to 3-0.
Boston trimmed its deficit to 3-1 in the fourth when Hamilton's two-out double scored Smith, but the Brewers added three more runs in the fifth. Perkins scored on a Yelich double to center to make it 4-1, and Adames followed with a two-run double that drove in Contreras and Yelich to increase the lead to 6-1.
Smith's home run in the sixth made it 6-2 before Joey Ortiz drove in Yelich with a sacrifice fly in the ninth to finalize the scoring.
