Charlotte @ Detroit preview
Little Caesars Arena
Last Meeting ( Oct 18, 2017 ) Charlotte 90, Detroit 102
The Detroit Pistons might not yet have a handle on winning on the road, but they do just fine at home. The Pistons will try to run their home winning streak to six straight when they host the struggling Charlotte Hornets on Monday.
Detroit snapped a five-game road slide with a 114-80 drubbing of the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday and had a chance to come home off a winning three-game road trip before they dropped the finale 107-105 at Chicago on Saturday. The Pistons are losers of four of their last six games -- all four losses on the road -- but continue to get strong performances from center Andre Drummond, who averaged 19.7 points and 16.3 rebounds on the three-game trip. The Hornets had a chance to end a three-game homestand with a winning mark but, like the Pistons, they dropped the finale 101-91 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday while totaling 32 points in the second half. "It looked to me like we ran out of gas in that second half," associate head coach Stephen Silas told reporters. "We started the quarter pretty good but after the second group went in they seemed tired. Our first group seemed tired too. A back to back with a quick turnaround was a tough one. We have to quickly regroup and get ready for our afternoon game in Detroit, watch the film, learn from it and move on."

ABOUT THE HORNETS (16-25): Charlotte failed to reach 100 points in either of the last two games and shot 39.8 percent from the floor in Saturday's setback. The backcourt combination of Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum combined to go 9-of-30 from the floor and committed nine of the team's 14 turnovers. Batum is battling through a particularly rough stretch while averaging 7.8 points on 31 percent shooting in the last four games and his backup, Jeremy Lamb, was only able to muster six points off the bench on Saturday.
ABOUT THE PISTONS (22-19): Drummond and shooting guard Avery Bradley (26 points) were solid against the Bulls but leading scorer Tobias Harris slumped to seven points on 3-of-14 shooting in the loss. "Tobias has to continue to keep playing and make plays for our team," Bradley told the team's website. "He's a playmaker. When he's not scoring the ball, he's able to make plays for other guys. He just has to continue to stay positive. He's a very good scorer. He'll play better next game. But we definitely need Tobias to play well in order for us to have a good offensive performance." Harris is averaging 18.2 points and was coming off a 10-of-14 effort in Wednesday's win at Brooklyn.
