Three days after absorbing one of the biggest upsets in recent college basketball history, No. 1 Duke is back on the court Friday for a matchup with visiting Winthrop. The Blue Devils were stunned at the buzzer by Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday, suffering their first loss of the season - and their first home loss to a non-conference foe since 2000.

Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski stressed to his team at halftime to get back on defense and ultimately it was Nate Bain's breakaway layup at the overtime buzzer that sent Duke to an 85-83 setback in agonizing fashion. "It's kind of what we deserved. We didn't listen to him, and it hurt us eventually at the end," said guard Cassius Stanley, who had 15 points, five rebounds and four blocks. Vernon Carey Jr. led Duke with 20 points and Tre Jones chipped in 17 as the team's 150-game non-conference homecourt winning streak came to an end. Winthrop is just 4-3 but could pose a legitimate threat, as it already has won on the road against a ranked Saint Mary's squad.

ABOUT WINTHROP (4-3): The Eagles are coming off a resounding 127-83 victory over Division III foe Pfeiffer fueled by D.J. Burns' career-high 19 points off the bench. The team shot nearly 57 percent from the field, made 13 3-pointers and outrebounded the opposition 61-38 in maintaining its trend of alternating wins and losses this season. Burns (12.6 points) is the team's leading scorer, while Josh Ferguson averages 11.7 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds and Russell Jones (9.1 points) has made a team-high 12 3-pointers on the young season.

ABOUT DUKE (6-1): The Blue Devils have three primary offensive options in Carey (18.6 points, 9.4 rebounds), Jones (15.1 points, 7.0 assists) and Stanley (14.1 points, 5.3 boards). Carey has scored at least 20 points in four straight games and has shot at least 50 percent from the field in every game since the season opener, plus he enters with a run of five consecutive double-doubles. Jones is just 9-of-33 from the floor in the last three outings and over the last two games, he has recorded 12 turnovers following a zero-turnover performance in a win over California.

TIP-INS

1. Stanley only has three assists in 199 minutes.

2. Carey is shooting 63.3 percent from the field and has knocked down all three of his 3-point attempts.

3. In six of the Blue Devils' seven games, Jones has recorded at least six assists.
