Against all odds, Seton Hall ended its two-game losing streak in emphatic fashion last time out. Now the Pirates must contend with visiting Prairie View A&M on Sunday in their final game before Big East play begins.

Seton Hall had lost back-to-back games to Iowa State by 10 points and to Rutgers by 20 before rebounding with a four-point win over No. 8 Maryland. "Today we proved to everyone we can still play and we got a good win," said Quincy McKnight, who had a season-high 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. "This is a confidence booster to everyone on the court today." The Pirates suffocated the Terrapins, who shot just 26.9 percent from the field and turned it over 17 times. Prairie View A&M has played Central Florida, Texas, California, Arizona State and Colorado - all on the road - and lost those five games by a respectable average of 10 points.

ABOUT PRAIRIE VIEW A&M (3-8): The Panthers fell to Colorado 83-64 in their last contest - their fourth a five-game road swing that concludes Sunday. The team only attempted nine 3-pointers, making one, and had just nine assists on 25 baskets. Gerard Andrus (13.5 points per game) is the leading scorer for Prairie View A&M and has only one turnover in 68 minutes over the last three outings.

ABOUT SETON HALL (7-4): The Pirates pulled off the upset of Maryland despite not having their two best players - Myles Powell (concussion) and Sandro Mamukelashvili (wrist), who average a combined 32.1 points per game. "This was a big program win for us," said forward Jared Rhoden, who had eight points and 12 rebounds. "That's all coach (Kevin Willard) kept reiterating to us at practice all week, that we lost two of our star players and guys had to step up. It was a collective win. We all stepped up." Willard didn't sound optimistic about Powell's prognosis, saying after the Maryland game: "I didn't want to put a timeline on it because it's gonna be a while. He won't be back Sunday, he might not be back for DePaul [on Dec. 30]. We're gonna take our time with this."

TIP-INS

1. Powell averages 21.2 points and has made 35 3-pointers - 23 more than anyone else on the team.

2. Rhoden scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, in the first two games of the season but has not reached 11 in any game since.

3. McKnight has at least one steal in 10 of the team's 11 games this season.
