Georgia Tech steps outside of ACC play on Tuesday to host Morehouse, hoping to give sophomore guard Michael Devoe a chance to heal from a left foot injury while building off an inspiring home victory Saturday over North Carolina State. Junior guard Jose Alvarado scored 26 points and set a school record with nine steals, sparking the Yellow Jackets during a game-ending 14-3 spurt to earn a 64-58 victory and snap a three-game losing streak.

Alvarado, who missed time with an ankle injury earlier in the season, recorded steals on NC State’s final two possessions and scored six points during the decisive burst. “We’ve gotten better as a team,” Georgia Tech coach Josh Pastner told the media postgame. “We just have to be able to get through the door. That was our next step in our progression, and our guys found a way to defend, and we defended at a high level.” Alvarado is averaging 16.9 points, 5.1 assists, three steals and 4.6 rebounds in his past seven games. Morehouse, a Division II program located in Atlanta, has won two of its past three after downing Clark Atlanta University 67-62 on Saturday.
