Last Meeting ( Feb 12, 2018 ) Baylor 74, Texas 73

Coming off one of the most dominating weeks in program history, Baylor will look to extend a number of streaks when it visits Texas on Wednesday night in a Big 12 Conference matchup. After posting a pair of lopsided victories by a combined 56 points last week, the Bears are seeking their seventh straight victory overall and seventh in a row over the Longhorns.

Baylor followed up a 77-47 drubbing at Oklahoma with a 90-64 rout of TCU on Saturday and has a chance to match a school record with its sixth consecutive win in Big 12 Conference play. "The biggest thing is we're playing with joy," Bears forward Freddie Gillespie said. "We truly enjoy playing with each other." Texas almost pulled off quite a daily double of its own last week, but dropped a 65-60 decision at No. 16 Iowa State after knocking off 14th-ranked Kansas. The Longhorns, who have lost their five conference games by a combined 20 points, fell to Baylor in double overtime last season in Austin.

ABOUT BAYLOR (15-6, 6-2 Big 12): Guard Makai Mason, the first graduate transfer in program history, was named the Big 12 player of the week after pouring in a school-record 40 points against TCU. Mason, who also scored 12 points against Oklahoma, knocked down nine 3-pointers -- one shy of the school record -- versus TCU and has scored in double figures in 13 consecutive games to boost his conference-leading average to 20.1 points. Since moving into the starting lineup following a season-ending injury to Tristan Clark, Jared Butler is averaging 11.6 points in seven games.

ABOUT TEXAS (12-10, 4-5): Guard Kerwin Roach II scored a team-high 19 points at Iowa State and is averaging 17 during an eight-game streak in which he has reached double figures, but he struggled with his shot last week, going a combined 8-for-28 from the floor. Reserve guard Elijah Mitrou-Long was providing reliable production off the bench, scoring at least nine points nine times in the first 14 games but has become a non-factor. He has not scored more than six points in the past eight games and was held off the scoresheet last week while playing a combined five minutes.

TIP-INS

1. Mason is shooting 34-for-55 from the floor over the past four games.

2. Texas F Jaxson Hayes is averaging 12.3 points over the last eight contests.

3. Bears G Mario Kegler is averaging 10.3 points and shooting 52 percent during the six-game winning streak.

PREDICTION: Texas 75, Baylor 73
