Tiger-Cats 37, Lions 29: Quarterback Henry Burris was 25-of-35 for 375 yards and four touchdowns as host Hamilton won its rematch against BC.
Burris connected with wide receiver Greg Ellingson on two scores and found wide receiver Andy Fantuz and running back C.J. Gable for touchdowns for the Tiger-Cats (5-5), who avenged a 29-26 loss at BC last week. Fantuz caught six passes for 112 yards, Ellingson caught seven for 111 yards, while Gable totaled 157 yards from scrimmage.
Quarterback Travis Lulay completed 25-of-42 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns and running back Andrew Harris was limited to 10 rushing yards for the Lions (6-4), who fell to 1-4 on the road. Slotbacks Shawn Gore, Nick Moore and Courtney Taylor scored touchdowns in the fourth quarter and Moore finished with 138 yards on 11 receptions.
Burris struggled in the first quarter, throwing an interception to BC cornerback Cord Parks, but connected with Fantuz for a 37-yard touchdown 2:57 into the second and Ellingson for a 7-yard score 5:32 later. Burris connected with Gable for 32 yards and Ellingson again for 23 to extend Hamilton’s lead just 3:30 into the second half.
Gore’s 1-yard run 43 seconds into the fourth quarter was the Lions’ first touchdown. Lulay found Moore for a 5-yard score with 9:12 remaining and defensive back Ryan Phillips intercepted Burris 1:31 later, but Tiger-Cats kicker Luca Congi converted a 39-yard field goal to put the game out of reach with 4:03 left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Lulay threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Taylor with 1:57 remaining. … Harris has been held to 123 rushing yards over his last four games. … Burris leads the league with 3,181 passing yards. … Hamilton has won four of its last five games. … The Tiger-Cats will share the East Division lead if Montreal defeats Toronto on Sunday.
