Miami (FL) Hurricanes vs Louisville Cardinals Match Player Stats On Sep 19, 2020

D'Eriq King passed for 325 yards and three touchdowns, and Cam'Ron Harris ran for 134 yards as the 17th-ranked Miami Hurricanes defeated the 18th-ranked Louisville Cardinals 47-34 in an ACC game Saturday night at Cardinal Stadium in Louisville.

Miami's Jose Borregales, who helped beat the Hurricanes last year while playing for FIU, tied a school record with a 57-yard field goal. He also kicked a 48-yarder and totaled 17 points.

Hurricanes tight end Brevin Jordan caught seven passes for 120 yards and one touchdown.

The Hurricanes (2-0, 1-0) also scored on two one-play "drives" in the third quarter -- a 75-yard run by Harris and a 75-yard catch-and-run by freshman running back Jaylan Knighton.

However, Harris -- who has already rushed for more than 100 yards twice this season -- appeared to land on his elbow in the end zone as Louisville tried to tackle him and he had only one more carry the rest of the game.

Louisville (1-1, 0-1) was led by running back Javian Hawkins, who rushed for 164 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Malik Cunningham passed for 307 yards and three touchdowns. Cards wide receiver Tutu Atwell, a Miami native, caught eight passes for 114 yards and two TDs.

The Cardinals scored on their first possession, getting a 40-yard field goal from sophomore James Turner, the first three-pointer of his career.

Miami took a 7-3 lead on its next possession on a well-placed 17-yard back-shoulder pass from King to tight end Will Mallory. Harris' 38-yard run set up the score.

The Canes closed the first-quarter scoring, taking a 14-3 lead on Knighton's 3-yard run. Jordan hauled in a pair of 13-yard catches on the drive, including one highlight play in which he leaped over a would-be tackler.

A goal-line stand by Miami -- helped by Cunningham firing incomplete to an open Ean Pfeifer in the end zone -- forced a field-goal try, converted from 22 yards by Turner.

Miami's next two drives produced Borregales' field goals of 48 and 57 yards, giving the Canes a 20-6 halftime lead.

Louisville took the second-half kickoff and drove 75 yards for its first touchdown. Hawkins scored on a spectacular 19-yard run on third down, reversing field from right to left after he had appeared stuck for a loss.

Miami scored on its next play, a 75-yard run by Harris, who showed terrific speed and dove for the right pylon just as he took a shot from Kei'Trel Clark. Harris landed on his right elbow and was shaken up.

Back came Louisville, scoring on its next drive -- a 74-yard march that ended with a 6-yard flip to Atwell. Louisville kept that drive alive with a fourth-and-one run from its own 35.

Miami -- incredibly -- scored on its next play again, this time a short flip to Knighton, who sprinted the final 62 yards after the reception.

Two more Borregales field goals gave Miami a 40-20 lead with 10:58 left in the fourth, and the Canes cruised from there.
