Ian Book completed 20 of 27 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns, all of which went to wideout Ben Skowronek, as No. 2 Notre Dame pulled away for a 45-31 victory against host Boston College on Saturday at Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Book also rushed for 85 yards on 10 carries with another TD.
Skowronek had a 10-yard, 13-yard and 7-yard touchdown reception as Notre Dame (8-0, 7-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) remained perfect on the season. Running back C'Bo Flemister added two touchdowns on the ground for the Fighting Irish.
Phil Jurkovec completed 18 of 40 passes for 272 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for Boston College (5-4, 4-4). The redshirt sophomore transferred from Notre Dame before the start of this season.
The Golden Eagles crept to a 13-10 lead early in the second quarter as Jurkovec threatened to orchestrate an upset against his ex-teammates. But Notre Dame finished the first half on a 21-3 run and never looked back.
Flemister led the second-quarter surge with a 2-yard rushing touchdown that capped a six-play, 75-yard drive. Book connected with Skowronek near the front left corner of the end zone on the Fighting Irish's next drive, and after Boston College responded with a field goal, Book found Skowronek in the end zone yet again to make it 31-16 with four seconds left in the half.
Midway through the third quarter, Flemister punched in a 1-yard touchdown run to increase Notre Dame's lead to 38-16.
Boston College cut the deficit to 38-23 in the final minute of the third quarter on a 3-yard rushing touchdown by David Bailey.
Notre Dame made it 45-23 on Book's 6-yard rushing touchdown with 12:19 left in the game. It was the sixth rushing touchdown of the season for the graduate senior, who also has thrown for 11 touchdowns to go along with only one interception.
Boston College capped the scoring when Hunter Long hauled in an 8-yard touchdown pass from Jurkovec with 4:09 remaining. Travis Levy converted a two-point attempt with a run up the middle.
