TCU played its second game under interim coach Jerry Kill, who stepped in after the sudden departure of veteran coach Gary Patterson. The Horned Frogs recovered a fumble on their first defensive series, and got a 44-yard field goal from Griffin Kell to make it 7-3 later in the first quarter. TCU did not score again until the fourth period.
Emari Demercado provided the Frogs their most punch and scored a touchdown. TCU missed three injured rushers: Zach Evans, Kendre Miller and Daimarqua Foster. Chandler Morris, coming off a sensational debut in an upset of Baylor, absorbed five sacks and could not find any rhythm.
