Rolandan Finch had a career-high 243 rushing yards and a pair of scores to lead Boston College to a 28-17 victory over Maryland in a sloppy, turnover-filled game Saturday at Byrd Stadium.

Finch, a sophomore, had 152 of his yards in the first half as the Eagles (2-6, 1-4 ACC) took a 21-3 lead into halftime. The win snapped Boston College's three-game losing streak and helped the Eagles improve to 6-3 all time against the Terrapins.

The Eagles turned the ball over four times, including three lost fumbles.

For Maryland (2-6, 1-4 ACC), it was yet another disappointing loss in a season that has failed to live up to expectations. Since a season-opening win against Miami, the Terps have lost six of seven and four straight.

Boston College scored on three of its first four possessions, all on rushing touchdowns, and had 202 of its 372 rushing yards in the first half. It was a surprising outburst for a team that came in with the nation’s 107th-ranked offense and had eclipsed the 20-point mark just once in the first seven games.

Maryland, behind starting quarterback C.J. Brown, kicked a field goal on its opening possession before falling apart offensively. The Terps’ next seven first-half possessions consisted of two interceptions, three punts, a missed field goal and a turnover on downs.

Danny O’Brien got plenty of snaps throughout but was largely ineffective, finishing 14-of-35 for 165 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception. His 55-yard strike to Adrian Coxson helped pull Maryland within 21-10 with 6:39 left, but Finch scored on a 3-yard TD run on the ensuing possession to put the game out of reach.
