Senior running back Myles Gaskin rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns as No. 10 Washington recorded a 31-24 victory over host UCLA in Pac-12 play on Saturday to win at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., for the first time since 1995.
Senior quarterback Jake Browning passed for 265 yards, rushed for 49 and accounted for two touchdowns as the Huskies (5-1, 3-0 Pac-12) built a 17-point lead en route to winning their fifth straight game.
Junior receiver Aaron Fuller caught five passes for 100 yards and one touchdown in his fourth 100-yard game of the season.
Freshman quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson passed for 272 yards and two touchdowns for the Bruins (0-5, 0-2), who are off to their worst start since opening the 1943 season with seven consecutive setbacks.
Junior running back Joshua Kelley rushed for 125 yards and one touchdown for UCLA while junior tight end Caleb Wilson (eight receptions, 102 yards) and junior receiver Theo Howard (nine catches, 60 yards) caught touchdown passes.
UCLA trailed by 17 points at halftime but dominated the first 15-plus minutes of the second half.
Junior JJ Molson kicked a 49-yard field goal to cut Washington's lead to 24-10 with 9:46 remaining in the third quarter.
Then the Bruins traveled 90 yards on 17 plays, with Thompson-Robinson throwing a 9-yard touchdown pass to Wilson on the first play of the final stanza to cut the deficit to seven.
The Huskies re-established control later in the quarter with a 12-play, 81-yard touchdown drive. Gaskin capped it with a 2-yard run on a direct snap as part of his 22nd career 100-yard outing, snapping a tie for most in school history with Chris Polk (2008-11).
UCLA answered to move within 31-24 on Kelley's 2-yard run with 1:38 left. But Washington senior tight end Drew Sample recovered the ensuing onside kick, and the Huskies ran out the clock.
Browning passed for 202 yards in the first half as the Huskies held a 24-7 advantage.
Browning connected with Fuller on a 25-yard scoring pass for the game's first points with 1:37 remaining in the opening quarter.
Redshirt freshman Peyton Henry kicked a 26-yard field to give the Huskies a 10-0 lead with 11:45 left in the first half.
UCLA got on the board when Thompson-Robinson tossed a 9-yard scoring pass to Howard with 9:47 left.
Gaskin scored on a 1-yard run just over five minutes later to make it 17-7, and Browning scored on a 1-yard sneak with 33 seconds left to make it a 17-point margin at the break.
