South Carolina State used a stingy defense and a ball-control running attack to shut out host Florida A&M 19-0 on Saturday at Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla.
Quarterback Malcolm Long capped a time-consuming 14-play drive with a touchdown run that put the Bulldogs up 16-0 with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Blake Erickson connected on all four of his field goal attempts to help the Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0 MEAC). Chris Massey was the workhorse on the ground, rushing for 113 yards on 26 carries.
Florida A&M (2-3, 2-1) struggled to find any rhythm on offense, and had just over 100 yards of offense heading into the fourth quarter, and six first downs on the game.
