Quarterback Zack Greenlee passed for three touchdowns, and running back Marteze Waller scampered for 154 yards as Fresno State roared past visiting Abilene Christian in the season opener for both squads in Fresno, Calif.
Tight end Chad Olson had two touchdown receptions, and receivers Josiah Blandin and Jamire Jordan each caught one for the Bulldogs. Wideout Keyan Williams had seven receptions, and Blandin totaled 71 yards on four catches.
Quarterback Parker McKenzie passed for 168 yards and was intercepted twice for the FCS Wildcats. Running back Herschel Sims rushed for a first-quarter touchdown for Abilene Christian's lone points.
Jordan caught a 25-yard scoring pass for Fresno State's first tally before Sims scored from the 1 to tie it up. Greenlee connected on a 32-yard scoring aerial to Blandin to put the Bulldogs ahead to stay with 1:58 left in the opening quarter.
Olsen caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Chason Virgil, allowing Fresno State to take a 21-7 lead into halftime. Greenlee and Olsen teamed up on a 31-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter to make it a 24-point margin as the Bulldogs cruised.
