Alabama-Birmingham 56, North Texas 21: Cody Clements threw for 316 yards and was in on three touchdowns as the host Blazers trounced the Mean Green in Conference USA action.
Jordan Howard added a pair of TDs for Alabama-Birmingham (4-2, 2-1 C-USA), which took advantage of five turnovers by North Texas. Jamarcus Nelson caught four passes for 104 yards and a score while the Blazers defense recorded three touchdowns in the rout.
Dajon Williams went 11-of-21 for 124 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for North Texas (2-4, 0-2), which has been outscored 105-45 in its last two games. He was replaced by Andrew McNulty, who racked up 167 yards and a score the rest of the way.
The Blazers set the tone early, scoring defensive touchdowns 12 seconds apart to open a 14-0 first-quarter lead. Jontavious Morris scooped up a fumble by Williams and rumbled nine yards for the opening score, and Lamarcus Farmer doubled the advantage with a 22-yard interception return on the first play after the ensuing kickoff.
Howard caught a 12-yard scoring pass and added a 2-yard TD plunge in the second quarter, helping UAB cruise to a 35-14 lead at the half. The Blazers erupted in the third as Darius Williams returned an interception nine yards for a score and Clements punched it in from a yard out following another turnover on the ensuing possession before adding a 74-yard scoring strike to Nelson 1:35 later to punctuate the rout.
