Toledo 45, Navy 44 (2OT): Terrance Owens tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Bernard Reedy in the second overtime as the host Rockets held off the Midshipmen.
David Fluellen and Kareem Hunt combined for 280 yards rushing and three touchdowns as Toledo (4-3) gained 321 yards on the ground. Owens was 11-of-20 for 105 yards, and his only scoring pass came on the decisive play as he found Reedy wide open in the end zone.
Keenan Reynolds passed for 95 yards and a touchdown and also ran for 37 yards and three scores for Navy (3-3), which lost its second game in a row. Noah Copeland rushed for 153 yards and Chris Swain added 62 yards and a score as nine different ball-carriers tallied 419 yards on 93 attempts for the Midshipmen.
Hunt, who rushed for a career-high 127 yards and his first two TDs, put the Rockets ahead 31-21 on a 16-yard run with 12:10 remaining in the fourth quarter. Reynolds capped a 10-play, 96-yard drive with a 3-yard run and then led the Midshipmen down the field for Nick Sloan's tying 40-yard field goal as time expired. The team's traded touchdowns in the first overtime, but Navy's point-after attempt failed following Geoffrey Whiteside's 6-yard scoring run to open the second OT, making Jeremiah Detmer's extra point on the ensuing TD the difference.
Navy rushed for 207 yards in the first half and dominated the time of possession by more than nine minutes but only led 14-10 due to a costly mistake early in the second quarter. Reynolds mishandled the snap, and Toledo's Jayrone Elliott picked up the fumble and ran 68 yards for the score.
