No. 9 Texas A&M 41, Mississippi 38: Josh Lambo kicked a 33-yard field goal with no time remaining and the visiting Aggies withstood an upset bid by the Rebels after the teams combined for 41 points in the fourth quarter.
Johnny Manziel accounted for 470 yards of offense and rushed for two touchdowns for Texas A&M (5-1, 2-1 SEC West), which tied the game at 38 on Manziel’s 6-yard TD run with 3:07 remaining. The Aggies stopped Ole Miss on downs on the Rebels' next possession before driving for Lambo’s game-winning kick.
Bo Wallace completed 22-of-36 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns for Mississippi (3-3, 1-3), which has lost three straight. Barry Brunetti, who completed 3-of-4 passes for 28 yards and two scores as Wallace’s backup, tied the score at 24 with 12:10 remaining on a 9-yard pass to Evan Engram.
The Rebels moved ahead 31-24 with 10:36 left to play when Wallace connected with Laquon Treadwell on a 19-yard score, but the Aggies responded with a seven-play, 75-yard drive capped by Trey Williams’ 27-yard TD run. Manziel was 31-of-39 for 346 yards with one interception and recorded his fourth career game with at least 300 passing yards and 100 yards rushing.
The wild fourth quarter continued when Wallace gave the Rebels a 38-31 lead on a 50-yard TD pass to Jaylen Walton with 6:05 to play. Manziel took over in the final minutes for the Aggies, who have scored at least 40 points in nine straight games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Manziel gave the Aggies a scare in the first quarter when he left the game with a non-contact injury to his left knee, but he was able to return for the next series. … Ole Miss LB Serderius Bryant left on a stretcher after tackling Manziel late in the fourth quarter. … The Aggies have won all six meetings against the Rebels, including last season’s 30-27 comeback victory in Oxford.
