Texas-El Paso 34, Texas-San Antonio 0: Jameill Showers and Aaron Jones each accounted for two touchdowns as the visiting Miners cruised to a Conference USA triumph.
Showers was 12-of-18 for 191 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions as UTEP (4-3, 2-1) won its second straight game following a 1-3 stretch. Jones ran for 86 yards on 21 carries and added two catches for 36 yards, recording a TD on the ground and through the air.
Austin Robinson endured a putrid performance for the Roadrunners (2-6, 1-3), going 6-of-20 for 32 yards. He threw a fourth-quarter interception that Jimmy Musgrave returned 19 yards for a score.
Showers passed for two touchdowns in the first quarter - a 75-yard strike to Jaquan White and a 40-yarder to Aaron Jones. A short field goal late in the second quarter sent UTEP into intermission with a 17-0 cushion.
The Miners added 10 points in less than two minutes late in the third quarter. Jones ran for a 24-yard TD to make it 24-0 before a UTSA fumble led to a 47-yard field goal by Jay Mattox.
