No. 3 Florida State 41, No. 6 Miami 14: Miami native Devonta Freeman scored three touchdowns and James Wilder Jr. added two as the host Seminoles won a battle of unbeaten rivals and snapped the Hurricanes' nine-game winning streak.
Freeman rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns and caught six passes for 98 yards and a score for Florida State (8-0, 6-0 ACC). Heisman Trophy hopeful Jameis Winston was 21-of-29 for 325 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.
Stephen Morris was 16-of-28 for 192 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for Miami (7-1, 3-1). He threw first-half touchdown passes of 33 and 14 yards to Allen Hurns to keep the Hurricanes in it but struggled in the second half, throwing two picks that led to 10 points.
Freeman scored on a 5-yard run and a 48-yard pass from Winston and Wilder punched in a 1-yard TD as Florida State built a 21-7 lead. The Hurricanes followed Winston's second interception of the half with a touchdown to pull within seven with 22 seconds left.
It was all Seminoles in the second half, as they put together drives of 83 and 79 yards in the third quarter with Wilder's 5-yard TD run and Freeman's 12-yard scamper making it 35-14. Roberto Aguayo added a pair of field goals in the fourth to cap the scoring.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Florida State has scored 40 or more points in a school-record eight consecutive games. … Miami RB Duke Johnson was carted to the locker room late in the third quarter and postgame reports cited his ailment as a season-ending right ankle injury. Johnson had a game-high 97 rushing yards. … The announced attendance of 84,409 set a record for Doak Campbell Stadium.
