No. 11 South Carolina 24, Wofford 7: Kenny Miles ran for a career-high 127 yards and a touchdown and the Gamecocks made big plays down the stretch to survive an upset bid by the visiting Terriers.
Connor Shaw completed 16 of 20 passes for 122 yards for South Carolina (9-2). He was 6-for-7 on a fourth-quarter drive that resulted in a tiebreaking field goal and then found Ace Sanders for an 8-yard score moments later to finally give the Gamecocks some breathing room.
Eric Breitenstein had 125 of Wofford's 259 rushing yards. The Terriers (8-3) completed just one pass, but it went for 71 yards from James Lawson to Jeff Ashley.
South Carolina committed two turnovers deep in Wofford territory in the first half alone and the Terriers forged a 7-7 tie when Breitenstein capped a 13-play drive with a 2-yard TD run just before halftime.
It stayed that way until a 15-play Gamecocks drive early in the fourth resulted in a 23-yard field goal by Adam Yates. After the Terriers were stuffed on a fourth-down attempt, Shaw and Sanders hooked up to make it 17-7 with 8:10 left. Seconds later, a Breitenstein fumble was taken back 31 yards for a score by Akeem Auguste.
