Western Kentucky 45, UTSA 7: Brandon Doughty passed for five touchdowns without an interception as the host Hilltoppers won their third straight game.
Doughty finished 26-of-35 for 346 yards for the Hilltoppers, finding 10 different receivers on the day, including four who caught a touchdown. Jared Dangerfield finished with two TDs on four receptions, while Willie McNeal, Taywan Taylor and Leon Allen also found the end zone through the air for Western Kentucky (6-5, 3-4 Conference USA).
McNeal led the Hilltoppers receiving corps with seven catches for 105 yards. Dalton Sturm found Kerry Thomas Jr. for a late touchdown as the Roadrunners (3-8, 2-5) lost for the fourth time in five games.
Doughty found Allen for a 54-yard TD pass on the game's opening drive and hooked up with Taylor for a 47-yard score later in the opening quarter, making it 14-0. He had two more TD passes in the second quarter - a 67-yard hookup with McNeal and a 13-yard pass to Dangerfield - as Western Kentucky led 28-0 at intermission.
Doughty and Dangerfield connected for a 16-yard touchdown in the third quarter and the Hilltoppers added a field goal early in the fourth before the Roadrunners finally got on the board with 8:49 remaining. The Hilltoppers finished with a 466-234 advantage in total offense over UTSA, which did not help itself by committing 12 penalties for 124 yards.
