Mississippi 41, No. 24 Mississippi State 24: Bo Wallace threw three of his five touchdown passes to the surging Donte Moncrief as the host Rebels routed the Bulldogs in the 109th edition of the Egg Bowl.
Wallace completed 15 of 22 passes for 294 yards, 173 of which were gained on the other end by Moncrief, who has five touchdowns in his last two games. Jeff Scott chipped in 111 yards rushing for Mississippi (6-6, 3-5 SEC), which became bowl eligible for the first time since 2009.
Tyler Russell threw for 268 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for Mississippi State (8-4, 4-4), which had won the last three meetings against its old rival. Chad Bumphis had 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns, including a 42-yarder late in the first quarter that gave the Bulldogs a 14-7 lead.
A wild first half featured four turnovers and several big plays. After Wallace hit Jamal Mosley for a 25-yard touchdown on the game's fourth play from scrimmage, Jameon Lewis returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards. Russell and Bumphis hooked up on their long TD, but Wallace later put the Rebels up 17-14 with a 77-yard bomb to Moncrief.
The trend continued after the break, but only the hosts benefited. A Russell interception led to a Wallace-to-Moncrief 21-yard touchdown to make it 27-17 and a quick Mississippi State punt resulted in Wallace finding Moncrief from 16 yards out to make it 34-17 with 3:40 left in the third. Vince Sanders caught Wallace's last touchdown pass to give Ole Miss a 24-point lead with 11:44 remaining.
