Graduate senior quarterback Patrick Towles threw two touchdowns passes for the second straight week, leading Boston College to a 35-3 non-conference home blowout of Buffalo Saturday.
The victory was the third of the season for the Eagles (3-2, 0-2 ACC), matching last season's win total. But two of these wins have come against FBS opponents, while last year there was only one.
Boston College, which has lost 10 straight conference games, hosts No. 5 Clemson Friday night.
The Eagles held Buffalo (1-3) to just 67 yards of total offense.
Running backs Davon Smith and Jon Hilliman both ran for a touchdown as the Eagles overcame Towles losing two fumbles.
Towles, a transfer from Kentucky, threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Callinan and an 11-yarder to Michael Walker in a 21-point second quarter that put the home team in control. Sophomore Darius Wade played most of the fourth quarter.
Jones, a redshirt freshman, opened the scoring with a 1-yard run in the first quarter and Hilliman and Richard Wilson both ran for short-yardage touchdowns in the fourth.
Adam Mitcheson kicked a 28-yard field goal to make it 14-3 after the first of Towles' two lost fumbles.
Towles finished 14 of 25 for 234 yards, with Jeff Smith making five catches for 65 yards. Walker had a TD catch for the second straight week.
Hilliman finished with 54 yards on 19 carries, while Jones, a redshirt freshman, had 53 yards on 14 tries.
Tyree Jackson was 9 of 21 for just 41 yards passing and the Bulls, coming off a win over previously undefeated Army last week, netted just 26 yards on the ground.
Buffalo opens its MAC season at home against Kent State next Saturday.
