For the first time in Jedd Fisch's tenure at Washington, he doesn't have Jonah Coleman and Denzel Boston. With the Huskies best two playmakers now in the NFL, Demond Williams Jr. could get off to a slow start in a rivalry game against a Wazzu defense full of upperclassmen. Scoring will be even harder for the Cougars, who have to deal with a Washington defense that was 10th in EPA per rush last year.

Even as Washington has pulled away from Washington State, the Cougars have shown up in the Apple Cup. They've covered in three of the last five, and while new head coach Kirby Moore is making his debut for Wazzu, this spread is too large. The Cougars have a transfer-heavy defense full of experience that should slow a Washington squad that lost its two best player to the NFL enough to cover.

Notre Dame slot WR Jaden Greathouse has tallied more than 32 receiving yards in just 11 of his 25 career games with a catch, including once in his four games last season.

Though he only played four games, Greathouse had a failing grade in his limited snaps last year. Also, if Notre Dame establishes the run Sunday, Greathouse could be on the field less because the Fighting Irish will use heavier packages.

According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), all four of Wisconsin's offensive line starters who played enough snaps last season had a failing grade.

This isn't ideal considering Notre Dame's defense ranked eighth in yards per rush allowed last year, according to GameOnPaper.com.

Badgers RB Abu Sama gained at least 43 rushing yards in eight of his 12 games last season. But Sama played for the Iowa State Cyclones last year and faced a cupcake schedule of defenses in the Big XII.

Wisconsin's offense is 106th in Connelly's SP+ ratings, while the Fighting Irish's defense ranks ninth, and college football analyst Phil Steele expects them to have one of the best front sevens in the nation.

Since hiring Jeff Brohm in 2023, the Louisville Cardinals are 2-6 Over/Under against ranked teams. Only two of their offensive starters played on last year's team, and Ohio State transfer QB Lincoln Kienholz makes his team debut Sunday.

Pete Golding was a long-time defensive coordinator, which probably makes him a more conservative playcaller than Kiffin, and Ole Miss has more defensive continuity year over year. The Rebels lost five of their top-six receivers, so they should run more, at least in Week 1, which means more running clock.

This is Pete Golding's first head coaching job and going from a coordinator to a head coach of an SEC team that was a few plays away from being in the national championship is a huge jump professionally.

That said, I have a tough time accepting Mississippi as a -6.5 favorite vs. the Louisville Cardinals on a neutral field. Plus, do you know who beat Miami last season? The Cardinals on the road as +13 underdogs.

Three of their four losses last year were by three or fewer points and two were in overtime. Louisville finished tied for 23rd in net adjusted EPA/play last season, which adjusts for opponent strength and removes garbage time, and 17th in net yards per play, per GameOnPaper.com.

In Week 0, against a New Mexico State defense that was ranked 121st by SP+ last year, Florida State had just 17 points midway through the third quarter. The Seminoles' offense is clearly flawed with Ashton Daniels at QB. If the Mustangs' defense, which ranked 15th in EPA per rush in 2025, slows FSU's ground game, the Under will be in position to hit.

Florida State looked like one of the least prepared teams to take the field in Week 0. The Seminoles struggled with a G6 bottom-feeder at home (New Mexico State) and now must deal with an SMU team that's ranked in the Top 25 nationally in returning production (62%). SMU was 12th in EPA per rush on defense last year and can slow FSU's run-first approach. The Mustangs' offense is in even better shape with QB Kevin Jennings behind one of the ACC's most experienced O-lines.

Former Mississippi head coach Lane Kiffin will take his new team, LSU, into Oxford. Considering the controversial way he left the Rebels prior to the playoffs last year, there might not be a more hostile environment in college football this season. It’s a game worthy of giving the home team more than three points of home-field advantage.

How to Use NCAAF Computer Picks

As human beings, we're bound to be biased with our picks and potentially fall into the trap of swinging with the public. With advanced stats growing in popularity and getting harder to track, college football computer predictions are starting to become more relied on.

Moneyline

Betting on a moneyline simply means you're picking the outright winner of the game, regardless of the scoring margin or total. If the team you choose wins, then your bet hits. Here's what it will look like over at your favorite sportsbook:

TeamMoneyline
Alabama Crimson Tide-120
Missouri Tigers+150

In this case, Alabama is favored to win the game as its moneyline odds have a minus sign (-) in front of the number. The favorites will have the minus sign present, and the underdogs will have a plus sign (+). Easy, right?

Spread

Betting the spread gives your bet a bit more breathing room. Here, you don't need to sweat out a team to win. Instead, you can wager on the point differential on the scoreboard.

Betting on the spread is a good idea when the moneyline profits aren't enticing. There's no point betting on Alabama as a heavy -1500 favorite over Missouri. But taking Missouri to keep the scoring margin within a certain frame will get you more bang for your buck.

TeamSpread
Alabama Crimson Tide-24.5 (-105)
Missouri Tigers+24.5 (-115)

In this example, the Tide are favored to dominate their game against Missouri, outperforming them by at least 24.5 points.

If Alabama does win by more than 25 points, that would mean the Crimson Tide covered the spread. But if the Tide won by just 20 points, then that would mean the Tigers "covered the spread" instead.

Totals

If you think the outcome of a game could flip in either direction, then an Over/Under is the way to go. This bet relies on the combined score from both teams and whether it goes Over or Under the point total listed at sportsbooks. Then, who cares who wins?

TeamTotal
Alabama Crimson TideO 52.5 (-110)
Missouri TigersU 52.5 (-110)

In this example, oddsmakers have set the total score for the game at 52.5 points. The choice is now up to you. If you think the Tide and Tigers will score a combined total of more than 52.5 points, 53 points or more, then pick the Over. If you're thinking otherwise, then bet the Under, and the bet will hit if they score fewer than 52.5 points.

If the set number was a whole number like 52 points and the two teams score exactly that amount, then it is considered a push and you'd get your money back.
