UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel's Pistol offense was shooting blanks last week. The solution might not be as simple as changing the gunslingers.

The Bruins look for their first win of the season when they host Houston Saturday night. The Cougars are 2-0.

Neuheisel benched starting quarterback Kevin Prince in the third quarter of last week's 35-0 loss to No. 19 Stanford. Richard Brehaut replaced him with little success.

The Bruins (0-2) are off to their worst start since 1997.

Prince struggled mightily for the second straight game, this time a 6-of-12, 39-yard, two-turnover performance in a 35-0 loss to Stanford on Saturday. Brehaut came in and struggled himself. He finished 5-of-9 for 42 yards and an interception.

Neuheisel admitted he's not sure where he'll turn. Prince struggled in the Bruins' opening week 31-22 loss at Kansas State but much of the problem could be attributed to the team's receivers who dropped numerous passes. Last week against Stanford, Prince was under duress for much of the game, but, even when he had time, he was off target.

The Bruins didn't convert a third-down until midway through the fourth quarter.

The quarterback situation at Houston is also a question mark this week but not because of performance issues.

Houston quarterback Case Keenum suffered a head injury while trying to make a tackle following an interception last week. Cougars coach Kevin Sumlin said that Keenum had symptoms of a mild concussion.

Keenum's status for Saturday's game probably won't be decided (or made public) until game time. Sumlin typically releases little information.

Keenum heads one of the nation's top offenses. The Cougars hammered UTEP 54-24 last week. Cotton Turner replaced Keenum and was 9-for-10 for 69 yards and a touchdown.

He was 15-of-24 for 265 yards and an interception before leaving the contest.

Bryce Beall led the Cougar offense last week. Beall rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns to lead Houston to a 54-24 victory over UTEP on Friday night. Michael Hayes also rushed for three touchdowns in the game as the Cougars extended a school record with their 17th straight home win.

Houston beat Texas State 68-28 in the season opener, as Keenum threw five touchdown passes.

If the Bruins can't move the ball against Houston things won't bode well for the rest of the season. UTEP threw for 340 yards last week.

UCLA lost junior running back Derrick Coleman to a neck injury last week. Coleman was removed from the field on a stretcher in a scary situation last week but Neuheisel said Coleman is fine and will return to the team shortly. He is doubtful for this week's game.

UCLA's best chance to score last week came when Kai Forbath missed a 50-yard field goal. They had four turnovers in the contest.
