Something has to give on Saturday night in Nashville, Tenn. when Vanderbilt hosts Wake Forest in a non-conference game for two teams which are riding long losing streaks entering this season finale.

Wake Forest (2-9, 1-7 ACC) has lost nine straight after opening the season with two wins, while Vanderbilt (2-9, 1-7 SEC) has lost six in a row, all in the rugged SEC.

There are many similarities between the two teams as both teams started off the season relatively well, including both winning their league openers. However, Wake Forest and Vanderbilt have been crippled by two major factors — struggling offenses and porous defenses.

Wake Forest, whose nine consecutive losses have come against teams that have clinched bowl eligibility, rank 97th in the nation in scoring, averaging 21.7 points while its defense is 114th in points allowed at 37.9.

Vanderbilt, under first-year head coach Robbie Caldwell, who took over the team just weeks before fall camp began, ranks 113th in scoring offense, averaging just 17.3 points. The Commodores have only scored 20 points once during their six-game skid.

This will be the 13th meeting in the all-time series between Wake Forest and Vanderbilt. The Commodores hold a 7-5 advantage, but the Demon Deacons have won two straight, and also have been victorious in three of the last four games played in Nashville.
