ABOUT STEPHEN F. AUSTIN (1-1): The Lumberjacks, a member of the Southland Conference, have only themselves to blame for last week's loss. They were whistled for nine penalties and 94 yards. On top of that, they turned the ball over four times, including three interceptions by quarterback Brady Attaway.
ABOUT BAYLOR (1-0): The Bears’ dramatic win over TCU on national television made an instant star of quarterback Robert Griffin III. The senior passed for 359 yards and five touchdowns against one of the best defensive squads in college football. Griffin hasn’t taken it easy on non-conference foes, completing almost 64 percent of his passes for 2,873 total yards, 25 touchdowns and only two interceptions in 13 games outside of Big 12 play.
EXTRA POINTS
1. The Bears boast an all-time record of 70-39-2 as a ranked program, including 20-7-0 versus non-conference foes. They are 18-1 against the Southland Conference.
2. The Lumberjacks are 2-10 against FBS programs. Their last win versus an FBS opponent came in 2003 against Louisiana-Monroe.
3. Baylor wide receiver Kendall Wright had 12 catches for 189 yards and two touchdowns against TCU. He ranks third in receiving at BU with 2,530 career yards and needs 122 to become the school’s all-time leader.
PREDICTION: Baylor 47, Stephen F. Austin 3 - The Bears' offense is too much for the Lumberjacks, who should muster a field goal for their first points against Baylor.
