THE STORY: No. 7 Wisconsin looks to extend its 31-game non-conference win streak when it hosts FCS school South Dakota at Camp Randall Stadium. The Badgers are 3-0 after last week’s neutral-site victory over Northern Illinois, in which they scored touchdowns on six of their first seven possessions. Russell Wilson has completed 75 percent of his passes for 791 yards, eight touchdowns and an interception to lead a Badgers offense that averages 505 yards and 45 points. The Coyotes are coming off a 48-10 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State and have won two in a row since a season-opening 37-10 loss to Air Force. These two schools have met once before, a 48-7 Wisconsin victory in 1975.

ABOUT SOUTH DAKOTA (2-1, 0-0 Great West): Quarterback Dante Warren threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 65 yards and a score last week for South Dakota, which improved to 36-5 at home under coach Ed Meierkort. With a win Saturday, Meierkort would move into third place on South Dakota’s all-time wins list with 51. Defensively, the Coyotes have forced eight turnovers in three games, including two in a victory over FCS defending champion Eastern Washington.

ABOUT WISCONSIN (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten): Wilson threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns and Montee Ball added two scores for Wisconsin, which totaled 621 yards and 34 first downs in last week’s win over the Huskies. Eleven of Wisconsin’s 19 offensive touchdowns have come from a ground attack that averages 238 yards. Despite just one takeaway defensively, the Badgers’ defense ranks 18th in the nation, holding opponents to 8.5 points and 271 yards per game. Wisconsin has outscored its opponents 135-24.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Wisconsin has won 22 straight non-conference home games and is 45-4 at home under coach Bret Bielema.

2. South Dakota’s last win against a BCS school was in a 41-38 victory over Minnesota in 2010.

3. The Badgers have started 3-0 every year since 2004 and have scored at least 40 points in five of their last six regular-season games.

PREDICTION:
Wisconsin 56, South Dakota 0 – South Dakota has no chance against the size and speed of the Badgers, who will be resting starters midway through the third quarter.
