Last Meeting ( Sep 15, 2012 ) Brigham Young 21, Utah 24

Brigham Young will host in-state rival Utah on Saturday in a non-conference matchup featuring rising stars at quarterback. Taysom Hill rushed for 259 yards and three scores in a 40-21 upset of then-No. 15 Texas and the Cougars hope the sophomore will make the difference in a rematch from last season that resulted in the Utes knocking off then-No. 25 Brigham Young 24-21 in Salt Lake City. The Cougars' last victory in the series came in 2009 before the Utes won the last three meetings.

Travis Wilson has thrown seven touchdown passes and rushed for another five through three games for Utah, but threw three interceptions in the 51-48 loss to Oregon State in overtime. Wilson will attempt to lead his team to victory before it opens a six-game stretch of Pac-12 competition featuring four nationally ranked opponents. The Cougars' rushing attack ranks second in the nation at 368.5 yards per game, but Utah's average of 49.3 points will be tough to contend with.

TV: 10:15 p.m. ET, ESPN2. LINE: Brigham Young -7

ABOUT UTAH (2-1, 0-1 Pac-12): The Utes opened the season with back-to-back victory over Utah State and Weber State, but the overtime loss to Oregon State has since slowed momentum for Kyle Whittingham's team. Dres Anderson has a receiving touchdown in each of the last three games for Utah and joins James Poole for most receptions (10). Poole complements his 98 yards receiving with 208 on the ground and is second on the team behind Wilson's 244.

ABOUT BRIGHAM YOUNG (1-1): The Cougars lost the season opener to Virginia despite leading 16-12 with less than three minutes remaining before a late score lifted the Cavaliers to a 19-16 victory. Hill's 259 yards rushing against Texas were the second-most in a game in school history and the win is the first over a ranked opponent since 2009. Brigham Young outgained the Longhorns 679-445 and the Cougars still picked up the win despite eight penalties and two turnovers.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Following Saturday's game, the series will take a two-year break for the first time since 1945. Utah leads 53-31-4 in the series that began in 1922.

2. Cody Hoffman needs three touchdown catches to pass Austin Collie and become the all-time touchdown receptions leader in Brigham Young history with 31.

3. Hoffman has caught at least one pass in 33 consecutive games played, dating back to 2010.

PREDICTION: Brigham Young 28, Utah 21
