Memphis looks to snap a two-game losing streak when it hosts Southern Methodist in an American Athletic Conference clash on Saturday. Memphis played well enough against Houston to win but settled for five field goals in the 25-15 loss. Head coach Justin Fuente is fully aware that his team must solve its red-zone issues. "There's no doubt we need to get the ball into the end zone," he said. "I'm awfully happy that Jake Elliott is knocking them through, but I would prefer that he kick PATs."

Southern Methodist comes into the contest on a three-game losing streak, including an overtime setback against Rutgers on Oct. 5. The Mustangs have been the victims of a brutal schedule, losing to Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Texas Christian in the first month of the season. Their defense has struggled mightily, conceding at least 30 points in each game while being outscored 216-136.
