Kansas State has turned in two of the most impressive performances of the season, squeezing out a victory at then-No. 5 Oklahoma last month before visiting West Virginia last week and annihilating the 15th-ranked Mountaineers 55-14. The lone unbeaten team in the Big 12 Conference, the No. 4 Wildcats will be seeking their eighth consecutive victory when they host No. 17 Texas Tech on Saturday. Senior Collin Klein seized control of the Heisman Trophy race by accounting for all seven touchdowns to help Kansas State move up to No. 3 in the latest BCS poll. Texas Tech's only loss came at Oklahoma (41-20), but the Red Raiders rebounded with a home thrashing of West Virginia (49-14) before surviving a three-overtime shootout to outlast Texas Christian 56-53 last week. Kansas State rallied for a 41-34 win at Texas Tech last season, ending a string of five straight losses to the Red Raiders.

ABOUT TEXAS TECH (6-1, 3-1 Big 12): The Red Raiders blew a 10-point fourth-quarter lead at TCU before prevailing in three overtimes on quarterback Seth Doege's career-high seventh touchdown pass of the game. Doege has bounced back nicely from a three-interception performance at Oklahoma, throwing for 817 yards and 13 touchdowns versus one pick in the last two games. The senior leads the nation with 28 scoring passes, matching his total from last season, and has completed 70.8 percent of his passes. Sophomore tight end Jace Amaro (chest) is questionable after missing last week's game. He hauled in five catches for a career-high 156 yards and a touchdown in the trouncing of West Virginia.

ABOUT KANSAS STATE (7-0. 4-0): In what was an anticipated preview between the top two Heisman contenders, Klein scored a first-round knockout of West Virginia's Geno Smith. He threw for three touchdowns and a career-high 323 yards and ran for four more TDs. Kansas State scored touchdowns on seven straight possessions behind Klein, who was 19-for-21 to boost his completion percentage to 70.5 - a dramatic increase from last season's 57.3. Tyler Lockett caught two scoring passes and had nine receptions for 194 yards, giving him one more catch than in his previous four games combined. The Wildcats allowed at least 34 points in five of their last nine games last season, but are surrendering 16.1 per game this season.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Klein's four rushing touchdowns last week gave him 41 over the past two seasons, the most by any quarterback in back-to-back years.

2. Kansas State and Alabama are the only two schools to win their first seven games in each of the last two seasons.

3. The Red Raiders became bowl eligible for the 19th time in 20 seasons and stayed perfect on the road (3-0) with last week's victory.
