Utah @ Washington preview

Last Meeting ( Oct 1, 2011 ) Washington 31, Utah 14
Postseason possibilities remain within reach for Utah and Washington heading to their Pac-12 Conference meeting Saturday night in Seattle. The Utes can become bowl-eligible for the 10th consecutive season by winning two of their last three games. Washington still has a realistic shot at finishing second in the Pac-12 North standings. The Huskies are the only Pac-12 team that has never lost to Utah, winning the seven previous meetings. Washington is 4-1 at home this season, including wins over No. 12 Oregon State and No. 15 Stanford.

ABOUT UTAH (4-5, 2-4 Pac-12): The Utes are 11-0 when John White rushes for 100 yards or more. The senior running back is coming off his second consecutive 100-yard game, showing the kind of second-half surge that he did last season, when he totaled 809 rushing yards in the final six games, helping the Utes win five. White will likely see more carries for the second consecutive game because back-up running back Kelvin York is doubtful with a sprained ankle. York missed last week’s game with the injury.
ABOUT WASHINGTON (5-4, 3-3): Austin Seferian-Jenkins has quickly emerged as one of the nation’s top tight ends. He caught eight passes for a career-high 152 yards and a touchdown in last week’s 21-13 win at California and continues to lead the nation in receptions by a tight end (48). After only 22 career games, he already owns the school’s all-time career record for receiving yards by a tight end (1,170), and will likely break the single-season school record for receptions at his position. Washington has played the nation’s second-toughest schedule.
EXTRA POINTS
1. The Huskies ended a six-game road losing streak last week.
2. Utah senior Reggie Dunn has three 100-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns in the last two games. He set an NCAA record this season with four returns from that distance.
3. Washington RB Bishop Sankey needs 145 rushing yards to become the 11th back in school history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. He rushed for a career-high 189 last week against the Golden Bears.
