Last Meeting ( Oct 22, 2011 ) Boston College 14, Virginia Tech 30

Virginia Tech is in danger of not playing in a bowl game for the first time since 1992 as it visits Boston College on Saturday. The Hokies, who have lost three straight for the first time since 2002, have the third-longest bowl streak in the nation at 19 games, trailing only Florida State (30) and Florida (21). Virginia Tech, which is coming off a 28-22 setback to No. 6 Florida State on Nov. 8, must win its final two games to become bowl eligible. It finishes with Virginia on Nov. 24. Boston College showed little in its 21-6 loss to No. 3 Notre Dame on Saturday and is on track for its worst season since a 2-9 campaign in 1989.

ABOUT VIRGINIA TECH (4-6, 2-4 ACC):
A video of wide receiver Marcus Davis displaying an eye-popping disdain for blocking went viral this week to add more embarrassment to the Hokies' season. While coach Frank Beamer didn't have a direct reaction to the video when asked about it Tuesday, he said freshman Demitri Knowles would see more action this week. Davis leads the team with 38 catches and a 19.8 average per reception. The Hokies have lost seven straight on the road, including four this season by an average of nearly 18 points. The Hokies will be without safety Michael Cole, who suffered a neck sprain against Florida State and was taken off the field on a backboard.

ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE (2-8, 1-5):
The Eagles are struggling on both sides of the ball with the nation's 104th-ranked offense in scoring (20.5 points per game), a rushing offense third-to-last at 72.5 yards per game and a defense yielding 470 yards per game (107th). Much of the pressure has fallen on quarterback Chase Rettig, who is completing 57.1 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions while being sacked an average of 2.6 times per game - 93rd in the nation. Wide receiver Alex Amidon is third in the nation with a school-record 1,157 yards and his 73 receptions tie him for ninth.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Virginia Tech junior QB Logan Thomas has two touchdowns and six interceptions during the losing streak.

2. Amidon, who shattered Brian Brennan's record of 1,149 yards set in 1983, is four receptions shy of breaking Andre Callender's school record of 76 set in 2007.

3. Virginia Tech leads the series 14-6 and has won four straight, including 30-14 victory last season in Blacksburg, Va.
